Volunteers take part in a variety of activities, including supporting climate education sessions, assisting with tree planting, and contributing to community development.
Note: Inception e.V. only mediates participation in the volunteering program. The implementation and supervision on site are fully carried out by our partner organization “Schools Tree and Climate Project” in Uganda.

What are the age and language requirements for volunteers?

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and should be able to communicate in English at an intermediate level. The team in Uganda speaks fluent English.

How do I apply for the Inception Volunteering Program?

You can apply by filling out the online application form. Once submitted, we’ll send you all the details and invite you to our WhatsApp Volunteering Group, where we’ll answer any questions you have.

Is there a program fee?

There is no direct program fee. Instead, volunteers are asked to organize a fundraiser during their stay to raise at least €300 for Inception e.V. and share their experiences on social media. The Inception team is happy to help you set up your fundraiser.

What can I expect during my time in Uganda?

An unforgettable experience for sure! Volunteers typically work from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 3 pm, for a minimum of 1–2 weeks. Activities may include supporting climate education sessions, assisting with tree planting, and contributing to community development.
You’ll stay right at the project headquarters, where you sleep, enjoy breakfast, and share lunch with the whole project team. You’ll be involved in daily activities, get hands-on experience, learn about fruit trees and their cultivation, and have the chance to try things out, support, and learn from the team. Evenings and weekends are yours to explore – discover the city, the incredible nature around the River Nile, or connect with the team lead Kassim, who also lives on-site.
Throughout your stay, you’ll make a positive impact and can share your experiences on social media.

Do I need a visa and health insurance?

Yes, a valid visa (including yellow fever vaccination) and comprehensive health insurance are required to participate in the program. Make sure you have these documents sorted before your departure.

What health precautions should I take?

Volunteers should be physically fit, as the work can be strenous. During the online application, you’re encouraged to share any important health information – this helps us make sure the program is suitable and safe for you.
Additionally, you should consider taking malaria prophylaxis, especially if you are prone to mosquito bites. We can share our experience and tips, but you should also consult a doctor or travel health specialist for personalized advice.
